How we review

Our review methodology.

The same rigour you would apply to a new protocol.

Status: this describes how we will review. Hands-on testing has not been completed for any tool yet, so no tool is scored.

Four stages

  1. Research. We collect each vendor’s published features, pricing, clearances and privacy terms, and note which claims are the vendor’s own.
  2. Hands-on testing. We use the tool on realistic clinical scenarios, never on real patient data.
  3. Privacy and safety check. We check data handling against HIPAA, UK GDPR, Canadian provincial law and the Australian Privacy Act, and ask for regulatory clearances where they apply.
  4. Physician review. Dr. Ravi Shankar Gupta reviews the draft and verdict before publication.

Scores

Scores are out of 10 and are only given after hands-on testing and physician review. A tool that has not completed all four stages is labelled “Researched” and is not ranked.

Updates

Prices and features change often. Each page shows the date it was last checked, and we re-check on a regular schedule.
